All international students on an F-1 or J-1 visa sponsored by UC Berkeley are required to update their local address in the U.S. and complete the Arrival Confirmation task in CalCentral within 10 days of their arrival in the U.S. It is necessary that you complete this information so that we can register you in active F or J status in SEVIS. Failure to complete these tasks can negatively impact your status. You can find the required tasks on your CalCentral My Dashboard tab under your Tasks list.
Update Local US Address & Phone
Please follow the instructions in the task and be sure to correctly format your address and phone number. If your submission is not correctly formatted or is missing information, we will not be able to update your information in the SEVIS database and register your record.
A Correctly formatted Address will look like this:
•Address Line 1: 2299 Piedmont Ave
•Address Line 2: Room Number
•City: Berkeley
•State: California
•Zip / Postal Code: 94720
Arrival Confirmation
The arrival confirmation task requires that you upload a copy of your F-1 visa stamp from your passport and your electronic arrival record (I-94).
Your I-94 is not your travel history. It is a document that shows your date and class of admission. Please note that your class of admission should match your visa type. If you were issued an I-20, your class of admission should be F-1. You can retrieve your I-94 by going here and selecting 'Get Most Recent I-94/I-95' and entering your information. If your I-94 is not found or does not show the correct class of admission, please reach out to visiting-intl@berkeley.edu for assistance.
Your I-94 should look like this:
