Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Once class enrollment reaches its limit, a waitlist is opened. Students on most waitlists are automatically enrolled as space becomes available. If you are a visiting student, please note that this policy may be different from how waitlisted courses are filled at your home university or on your UC campus.
Students are responsible for monitoring the waitlist status via CalCentral. If you no longer want to wait for space to open in a waitlisted class, you must drop the waitlisted class. Students continue to be automatically enrolled from the waitlist through the second week of the session and will be charged for the tuition once enrolled.
Notification: Notification about any change in waitlist position or being enrolled in the class from the waitlist will only sent to your berkeley.edu account. It is strongly encouraged that you check your berkeley.edu account daily OR set up forwarding to another email account.
How to Check Status: The best way to monitor your enrollment and any enrollment changes is to log in to CalCentral and check your schedule under the “My Academics” Tab. You will also receive an email to your berkeley.edu email. It is strongly encouraged that email forwarding is set up from the berkeley.edu account to an email account you check daily so that you do not miss the waitlist notification.
How to Add Yourself to Waitlist: In order to add yourself to the waitlist, during the enrollment process in CalCentral, make sure that the box next to “Waitlist if class is full” is checked. Then click Next and continue. On the confirmation page, it will tell you that you were placed on the waitlist for the class.
