The Summer Sessions Office does not provide academic advising or advice on course selection. It is the student’s responsibility to determine preparedness to complete Summer Sessions courses.
Tips & Resources
- Review the schedule of classes online with course descriptions and links to the many departments offering courses in the online Academic Guide at classes.berkeley.edu.
- Review the course description and course syllabus (if available) and consult with your home institution (if applicable) about your readiness for UC Berkeley Summer Sessions courses.
- Please reach out to the department offering the course if you have additional questions or need more information about the class.
-
Consider the class/course level
- Classes numbered 1-99 are lower-division undergraduate courses generally for students in their first or second year of college.
- Classes numbered 100-196 are upper-division courses, usually only open to students who have completed at least one lower-division course in the given subject or two years of college work; these classes often have prerequisites.
- We recommend students to take advantage of all available resources including tutoring, office hours, and on-campus support to ensure a successful summer.
