Berkeley Summer Sessions highly recommends a maximum of 10 units per session during the summer term. Please note each course is a semester's worth (16 weeks) of course material presented within a shorter period. Generally speaking, a day of class and schoolwork during the summer is about the equivalent of a week, and a week's worth of school in the summer is about the equivalent of a month. However, this is only a recommendation, and it is up to each student to decide what is best for them.
Visiting International Students are typically required to enroll in full-time units to maintain their visa status. Please consult with International Student Services if you have any questions.
