University Health Services (UHS)
Registered Summer Sessions students are entitled to general outpatient medical care through the University Health Services (UHS). The UHS office is located at the Tang Center, 2222 Bancroft Way. Services include examinations, lab tests, x-rays, pharmacy service, physical therapy, and treatment by physicians and nurse practitioners. Students will be required to pay the fee in full and submit a claim to their insurance carrier for reimbursement. An advice nurse is available during business hours for medical advice, phone or walk-in consultation. For more information visit the UHS website.
Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS)
University Health Services offers career, personal, and academic counseling to students through Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). CAPS provides individual interviews, couples counseling, testing services, occupational information, and group counseling. The CAPS counselors are a multicultural group of social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists. Students can come in to talk about deciding on a major, learning about interests and abilities, clarifying career goals and exploring options, coping with a personal crisis, dealing with concerns about relations with family or others, overcoming learning disabilities and concentration problems, or any other concerns. Initial consultations are free; there will be a small fee for some services. Visit the CAPS website to learn how to access services.
Optometric Care
As part of its academic program, the School of Optometry offers optometric care to students, faculty, staff, and the general public. Special services are offered for infants & children, video display terminals users, disabled patients, people with job related vision needs, and those who require safety eyewear. Evaluation and training is available in the areas of low vision, reading and sports vision, binocular vision, and ocular photography. The University of California Eye Center has two locations: the School of Optometry in Minor Hall, just west of the Haas School of Business, and the University Health Center at 2222 Bancroft Way.
