There are over 600 classes from more than 80 subjects offered over the summer. The Berkeley Class Schedule provides a comprehensive list of all classes which can be accessed through classes.berkeley.edu.
Searching the Class Schedule
In the Class Schedule, select the Summer term and then explore your options by filtering by subject, course level, mode of instruction (online vs in person), times of instruction, session, number of open seats, and number of wait-list spots, and more.
Note that courses for the following summer usually become available in mid-December.
Summer Sessions Student Services does not provide academic advising on specific course selection. It is the student’s responsibility to review all available information and determine preparedness to complete Summer Sessions courses.
Tips & Resources
- Review the schedule of classes online with course descriptions and links to the many departments offering courses in the online Class Schedule at classes.berkeley.edu.
- Review the course description and course syllabus (if available) and consult with your home institution (if applicable) about your readiness for UC Berkeley Summer Sessions courses.
- Please reach out to the department offering the course if you have additional questions or need more information about the class.
- Consider the class/course level
- Classes numbered 1-99 are lower-division undergraduate courses generally for students in their first or second year of college.
- Classes numbered 100-196 are upper-division courses, usually only open to students who have completed at least one lower-division course in the given subject or two years of college work; these classes often have prerequisites.
- Check for Time Conflicts. Some courses allow it and some don't. It's your responsibility to meet all course requirements and class attendance requirements.
- We recommend students to take advantage of all available resources including tutoring, office hours, and on-campus support to ensure a successful summer.
